Michael Tanner

Michael Tanner began as a public radio host since 1988 on KUSP FM and a year with the irreverent KPIG radio in the early 90s.  Retiring from KUSP in 2014, left an interesting list of programs including jazz, blues, gospel, African, and Americana.  His popular late night musical mix program, Crosscurrents, ran for 24 years.  A retired teacher,  multi-instrumentalist with a recording studio, has recorded over 20 albums for clients locally and nationally on the Crosscurrents Radio Records label. A passion for jazz was developed  during a "History of Jazz" class at Minneapolis Community College in 1975. This led to a passion for jazz steeped in New Orleans jazz, the Harlem Show Bands, Big Bands, Swing, BeBop, Cool, West Coast, European, African, and American modern jazz. In other words all "Artists in Rhythm".

His musical tastes in jazz run from European small ensembles through bebop, swing  and standards to whatever is new and different.
